A man died after attempting to rob the home of an up-and-coming rap artist in Northeast Austin just after midnight Thursday.
Police said suspects forced their way through the front door of a house in the 13200 block of Rochester Lane.
One person in the home was shot through the arm before suspects fled.
Police caught up with one suspect in a yard a couple doors down. He was bleeding from the head after a struggle in the home. He collapsed and died at the scene.
Neighbors said rapper J. Kapone lives in the house.
"They have a recording studio in the house," said neighbor Bridgette Banfield. "We see a lot of cars coming and going, but they're basically there for recording."
Police are searching for two to three suspects. Austin Police Department has not released the name of the man who died.
