Why Does It Seem Out Here There Is A Lack Of Support Towards The Hip Hop/Rap Movments? All Down South The Dj's Caiter To Their Local Artist Unlike Here The Dj's Act As If There To Good To Take A Second And Just Listen! What Can We Do As Artist To Make Our City Start Showin The Love And Respect We Deserve For Puttin Our Time In The Booth Day In And Day Out?

I was born and raised in the south man, and the south is just that, the south! Meaning that we all liked one type of music cause thats all we heard was local shit so that other shit wasn't gettin play at all. California, especially Diego is so diverse that everybody might not understand just one type of music, especially the local scene. You pretty much have to put out a song that caters to every type of audience or risk it not ever being heard no matter how good it is, except in the hood of course.

I think theres only a few San Diego rap artist who got talent and a lot that just get air play are actually garbage not to mention any names. I think we need to keep supporting people like Damu, Black Mikey, Mitchy, Tiny Doo, Young Sau, Osceola Dubois, Big June, Don Diego, Ecay Uno, Haywire cats like these. We might get something cracking if we notice the real talent and stop trying to play whoever is trying to blow San Diego up. Recognize real talent that is all im saying.

Also to add ive noticed this by buying a lot of albums that were mainly garbage but I still support.

Yea that would be me and I appreciate the good business , you always seem keep ur word. That would be the haywire, they all came sick on that album. I guess I have to look at it that just some artist are just taking it as a hobby and making albums for just their circle. I respect everybodies hustle and contribute to music but imma stick to my ears and buy the real shit.

That is a good point I've seen what's been going on around here and how the "big time" music industry is changing into and it's just some b.s.
and the fact that there is in fact many rapper in San Diego that have a good chance in making it don't because they don't try hard enough or they think it's easy, or they just keep it here in San Diego thinking that someone from the outside is going to come and discover them. But the said truth it's not like that and you have to put in work, but it doesn't help that even our own city doesn't support the movement.
But I gotta give props to some of the artist that put hard work day in and day out, like Mitchy Slick. He doesn't just try and work here locally he try's his best to spread out and spread the word that's what we should all be doing.

Its the same scene in the TwinCities the movement on the streets is crazy but the DJ's dont show much love to local artists. I think honestly local artists have to start striving to do more things than just music. Get behind the scenes in positions where you can start making the decisions! Like Lilsmellswicked said that the people getting the spins are wack, why... cause its not what you do, or how good you are at it, it don't matter what you know its who you know. So when people start getting in positions of power we can make the choices of whose getting spinned. But if all we are doing as artists is just making music than we have to leave it up to someone else to decide if we getting played

There is not that much support for local artists because there is too much competition out here. Especially gangsta rap. certain artists won't fuck with each other because what set they are from. Sometimes that will happen, but not always. These Dj's are not Dj Rectangle and some can't even scratch on a record, just mixing and workin with ipods or cd players. Djs are tryin to do the same thang. Promoters as well. Just because you book artists or take flicks, doesn't make you a celebrity. These are people I reached out to and I got the cold shoulder in return so fuck em. Fans know who is hot and who is not. It's a grind and closed mouths don't get fed. The reason why these successful artists like Ecay Uno, Lil Uno, Criccet, Mitchy Slick, Damu, Black Mikey, & Big June are what they are is because they grind and work hard for the shit. If you ain't workin hard then your only gonna go so far in this game. Promote your shit if you want it to be heard and come correct. San Diego is just the beginning. If you can't move your shit around the city then how you expect to move your shit around the globe? While you're listenin to niggas from New York or the Dirty through your skullcandies, we tryin to have niggas from all around the world to listen to our shit. Go hard.
